Microdermabrasion is a clinically-proven technique for treating fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation, and other skin imperfections. The FDA approved microdermabrasion in 1998 after almost 10 years of successful treatment in Europe. This technique is painless and requires no healing time.

Microdermabrasion uses a process that removes a thin layer of dirt and dead cells from the surface of the skin. Specialists choose from a number of different devices to use, such as paddles, abrasive creams, and crystals, to perform the procedure. LCI uses crystals with a suction device to ensure uniform exfoliation.

Age, sun, diet, and environment are a few of the factors that lead to skin deterioration on the face and other parts of the body. Now with microdermabrasion there is a safe and gentle way to help rejuvenate, smooth, and repair your skin.

Microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin and increases the cellular renewal rate. At LCI, we use it to:

  • fade hyperpigmentation like freckles, age spots, and melasma
  • repair sun-damaged skin
  • soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • shrink enlarged pores
  • treat blemishes
This treatment is ideal for men and women who want healthier, younger-looking skin. Dermabrasion is recommended for all skin types. However, it’s not recommended for those who suffer from:

  • complicated acne (stages 3 or 4)
  • active rosacea
  • active herpes lesions
  • dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema
  • open sores on the skin
  • warts
  • keloid scars
  • lupus or other immune disorders
  • Type 1 diabetes

Microdermabrasion is also not recommended for anyone who has used Accutane within the last 6 months.

A microderm treatment on the face takes 15 to 30 minutes. First, we cleanse your skin. Then, we use a hand-held device with very fine crystals under pressure to exfoliate dead cells, dirt, and oil. You’ll feel a suction effect and a light scratching where the handpiece touches your skin.

Microdermabrasion is quick, affordable, and relatively risk-free. Your skin will look brighter, smoother, and may be slightly pink immediately after your treatment. Your skin care specialist will apply Aloe gel or moisturizer and sunscreen before you leave.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that exfoliates, or abrades, the skin’s outer layer. Using a medical-grade diamond tip or fine crystals, microdermabrasion planes the skin’s surface and refines its texture. Abrasion promotes the growth of healthy cells and increases blood flow to the dermis, allowing the skin’s natural regeneration process to heal imperfections. It also encourages the rebuilding of collagen and elastin for firming and rejuvenation. No healing time is needed – you can resume activities immediately after your microderm treatment.
If done properly by a qualified specialist, there are almost no risks associated with microdermabrasion. It’s a strictly cosmetic procedure that gives you immediate results you can see and feel.
The length and number of treatments will depend on the size and depth of the treatment area, and the condition of the skin. We recommend a series of 6 or more treatments, spaced 2 weeks apart, to achieve the best results.
To prepare for your microdermabrasion, stop using glycolic acid, or any alpha-hydroxy acid product, and exfoliation scrubs for 48 hours before your treatment.
After your microdermabrasion treatment, remember to:

  • Use a good moisturizer immediately after your treatment.
  • Don’t use Alpha-Hydroxy Acid products, Glycolic acid products, or exfoliation scrubs on the treatment area for at least 48 hours.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 7 days after treatment, and use a high quality sunblock
  • Resist using liquid foundations or pressed powder foundations for 24 hours after a treatment. Your skin will need to breathe and regenerate itself. You can safely apply eye makeup and lipstick.
Your skin care specialist will advise you personally about what results to expect. Most clients see maximum benefits after an average of six treatments: healthy, glowing, even-toned skin.

Microderm is a simple, safe, low-cost way to improve the look of your skin. Results aren’t permanent, however. We recommend that you follow-up with regular treatments to maintain your beautiful complexion.
